Active Ageing and the labour market

A visit was made to the VDAB 50+. Every region in Belgium has a public employment service. The VDAB is the public employment service of Flanders (official language: Dutch).

The VDAB was founded in 1989 in order to make the labour market in Flanders as transparent and dynamic as possible. With a view to reaching that goal, the VDAB offers employment services, training and career guidance.

One of the services is the VDAB50+. Between the age of 50 and 56 you can appeal to guidance. This means tailer made jobcoaching. Several steps are made together with your coach: for instance how to have a solicitation interview or how to start a new education.

When you are 56 or older. You can join the 50+club.  Here you receive even more specialised support and there is for instance a peer-support and training group.
